All lectures and practical courses will be carried in English, and those that complete the program are presented with a “Master of Sustainability Science“.

This interactive communication platform offers charitable organizations and individuals the opportunity to promote their projects to a diverse audience. Likewise, it provides donors with information on both current and potential projects with a view to matching those in need with supporters who are in a position to assist.
The scholarship will be offered on a yearly basis. The amount awarded will be equivalent to one semester’s tuition. Scholarship applications must be submitted by August 1st, 2008. Final selection of a scholarship recipient will be made by September 15th, 2008. The scholarship funds will be applied to tuition expenses for the Spring semester.
Upon selection of a scholarship recipient, the winning essay will be published on the AidConnect website.

Scholarship to UK (Manchester)

University of Manchester Postgraduate Research Students Awards Scheme 2008/2009

Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme (ORS)

ORS awards provide funding to help outstanding full time postgraduate research students from outside the UK and European Union.

The awards pay the difference between the standard international student tuition fees and the standard home/EU student tuition fees charged by the University.

ORS awards do not cover the home/EU fee element, maintenance or travel expenses; or the remainder of any outstanding overseas fees.

Candidates who are successful in obtaining an ORS award will in some cases receive an additional scholarship from their Faculty/School to cover the home/EU rate of tuition fees and a contribution towards living costs.

Please note, to be eligible to apply for an ORS award applicants must:

--Be liable for international tuition fees
--Be able to demonstrate outstanding merit and research potential
--Not have previously studied at PhD or equivalent level
--Not have held an ORS award before
--Be supported by the prospective School

The criteria for winning an ORS award are based on:

Academic ability
Applicants must either possess a first class honours degree or international equivalent (this is normally determined as being within, at least, the top 10% of your graduating cohort), or hold a master’s degree with distinction.

Research Potential
Applicants should provide two references; one external, and one from the potential supervisor within the School the applicant will be attending.

The references should demonstrate that the applicant is considered to have outstanding research potential.

The external reference, which would normally be provided by the applicant’s previous higher education institute, should also provide information on the student’s ranking (eg 3rd out of 15) within their cohort.

Where it is not possible to provide such a ranking an indication of the student’s comparative ability should be provided.

How to apply
All applicants should normally have received and accepted an offer of a PhD place at the University before submitting an application for an ORS award.

Closing dates
The closing date for submission of fully completed application forms to the prospective School/Faculty is as follows:
Thursday 31st January 2008
Application forms should be returned directly to your Faculty or School.

To apply, download a PDF version of the application form.
