ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship for International Qualifications at NTU

The ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships are offered by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) for students from the Association of South East Asian Nations, or ASEAN (except Singapore). ASEAN comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The scholarship is tenable for an undergraduate degree programme on a full-time basis at NTU.

Eligibility Criteria
All nationals (citizens and permanent residents) of a member country of ASEAN (except Singapore) are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Candidates offering international qualifications should have outstanding academic results and extra-curricular activities.

Application Procedure
Category D applicants (International)

Application for ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship for Category D applicants is open.

As the scholarship is offered to students admitted to NTU, applicants have to first submit the on-line application for admission to NTU. After successful submission of the on-line application form, please apply for the scholarship here by keying in the application number assigned to you. This on-line ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship application form is only applicable to international applicants with international qualifications.

Applicants will need to submit a recent passport-size photo (digital image) with the following specifications at the end of the application form;

  • GIF format (’gif’ extension)
  • File size around 60 Kbytes
  • 400(Width) by 514 (Height) in pixels

Interview
Only shortlisted applicants would be informed of the scholarship interview schedule.

Application Period
The same closing date for application for admission applies. Closing date is between 15 December 2007 to 31 March 2008, depends on the international qualifications.

Terms and Conditions
The scholarship covers the entire duration of the undergraduate studies on condition that scholars maintain a minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3.5 over 5. The academic performance is monitored on a semester basis.

If the scholar decides to terminate the scholarship prematurely, the university reserves the right to impose a repayment on a case-by-case basis.

The scholarship covers the following:

  • Tuition fee directly payable by students (after Tuition Grant)
  • Living allowance of $4,300 per annum

There will be no bond apart from the 3-year bond applicable to all foreign students under the Tuition Grant Scheme.

A recipient of the scholarship may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, grant or award without the prior approval of NTU.

Please satisfy yourself of your eligibility for the application before submitting the application form. False information or willful suppression of material facts will render your application disqualified, or if the Scholarship is awarded to you, the award will be invalid and you will be required to pay back the amounts received.

Scholarship to Canada ( Saskatchewan )

MSc or PhD Opportunity in Food and Bioproduct Sciences


A M.Sc. or Ph.D. student is sought in support of the Protein Quality and Utilization Program within the College of Agriculture and Bioresources. The research area focuses on biopolymers as functional ingredients for food. Specifically, the project will investigate protein-polysaccharide interactions at the molecular level, and their resulting impact on structure-forming properties in food.

Qualifications
Applicants must be highly motivated to pursue a research career. Candidates should have a strong background in chemistry, biochemistry, food science or one of the natural sciences. Furthermore, interested individuals holding a four-year Bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned fields ought to have a minimum cumulative weighted average (University of Saskatchewan grade system equivalent) of 75% before considering submission of an application.

The ability to work independently is necessary and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. A successful application to the College of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Saskatchewan will be required. Stipend

Scholarship to Japan ( ADB )

Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program
Funded by the Government of Japan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) - Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan.

Qualified citizens of developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), who intend to pursue postgraduate studies in economics, Management, Science & Technology and other development-related fields are invited to apply for scholarships under the Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program. upon successful completion of the graduate, the scholars are expected to return to their countries and contributes to its socioeconomics development. Scholarships are awarded for graduate studies at designated institutions in courses of study approved by ADB. The Program especially welcomes qualified women applicants who have limited financial means to obtain university education.

Eligibility Requirements
Prospective applicants must have:

  • be a citizen of an ADB developing member country
  • have at least 2 years work experience
  • have gained admission to a approved course in a designated institution
  • be in good health
  • not more than 35 years old at the time of application (Staff of ADB and the designated institutions and their close relatives are not eligible to apply)

Application Requirements

  • Applicants should obtain application forms from the designated institutions of their choice and submit the completed form and required documentation to the Institution.
  • Applicants should indicate on the application form that they wish to be considered for an Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program.
  • ADB will select the scholars from among those admitted by the institutions
  • A separate application to ADB is not necessary

Important points to consider when applying for ADB-JSP

  • No separate application to ADB is necessary.
  • The completed information sheet, together with all copies of academic records, should be sent to the institution at least six months before the start of the program that you wish to join.
  • Only candidates who have been offered admission and endorsed by the participating academic institutions will be considered for the scholarships by ADB.
  • Scholarship awards are intended for the scholars only; no provision is made for spouses or dependents.
  • Completion of the information sheet or admission by the academic institution does not mean that you have been accepted for a scholarship; you should not take any action with respect to your current employment or otherwise, until you have been informed by the institution that you have been awarded a scholarship.
  • Candidates who have been awarded ADB-JSP scholarship are not eligible for a second ADB-JSP scholarship.
